About the location
If you are only going to Edinburgh once then you need to consider this apartment. You can check out the award from flipkey at the bottom of the page and see lots of guest comments for this fantastic apartment in an unrivalled location. Imagine your dining table overlooking the southern crags of Castle Rock with Edinburgh Castle filling every window. There are many apartments with castle views - none are as dramatic as this. The apartment is the block immediately next to Edinburgh Castle esplanade - no zoom lenses invlovled - it is literally 20 metres from the apartment window to the Castle Esplanade. The Royal Mile is a 2 minute walk where you will find lots of tourist attractions, shops, bars and restaurants. You can also get to the Grassmarket where you will again find lots of shops, bars and restaurants and there are often events such as the farmers market in the pedestrianised are. One of Edinburghs best restaurants is just round the corner (Witchery by the castle - ask for the secret garden section if booking) but you will find places to eat for every budget nearby. The Whisky Heritage Centre, Camera Obscura, The Hub, Childrens museum, National Museum on Chamber Street, National Galleries on the mound, Mary Kings Close, ghost walks, old town tours, in fact the list goes on and on and of the course Edinburgh Castle itself is right outside the apartment. All the way down the Royal Mile are things to see and do right down to Holyrood Palace, Scottish Parliament, Holyrood Park and Dynamic Earth. The New Town is a 10 minute walk where you will find Edinburghs Georgian area with upmarket shopping like Harvey Nicols, Luis Vuitton etc on George Street and Multrees walk and loads more shops on our main street (Princes Street), Rose Street, Thistle Street, Castle Street, Hanover Street and Frederick Street.

About the apartment
This self catering Edinburgh apartment is one of the most popular on our site due to the fantastic views outside and stunning interiors inside. It has a rich boutique feel and was primarily designed with the Edinburgh evenings in mind using rich colours (one bedroom is even black) and sumptious furnishings so if you are looking for somewhere minimalist and contemporary then this place isn't for you. The accommodation consists of open plan lounge/kitchen with dining area, library, 2 double bedrooms and a luxury shower room. The lounge and both bedrooms all look directly onto Edinburgh castle with the lounge having the added benefit of additional south facing views across the city skyline and further towards the Pentland Hills. The open plan lounge kitchen area has seating for 4, dining for 4 and a fully equipped kitchen with dishwaser, microwave, oven, hob and fridge. There is a washing machine and freezer in one of the hall cupboards. The wall mounted plasma screen has Virgin cable TV and there is also free wifi and you will be told the network key when you arrive. Just off the lounge is a small study/library stocked with a variety of books with links to Edinburgh (for example did you know Encyclopaedia Brittanica through to Harry Potter were born in Edinburgh)? From the main hall you will find a luxury shower room finished in real natural travertine tiles with extra large shower tray and electric shower with towels provided. As you enter the bedrooms you will be forgiven for bypassing the lavish decor as you take in the views. Bedroom one has a lot of wardrobe space with 2 double built in wardrobes while bedroom 2 also has a built in wardobe. Throughout the apartment you will find this is not just another holiday let and has lots of individual touches. The apartment is in a shared tenement stair which is up 3 flights (no elevator as is usual in the old town) so please make sure you dont have any mobility issues before booking. That said, once you are up there the views are well worth it.
Check in
As a rough guide check in is 4pm but if you are arriving between 11am and 4pm we can take your bags in the apartment, give you a set of keys and let you explore Edinburgh whilst the apartment is cleaned. That will save you having to haul bags around until you can check in. If you are arriving after 9pm there is a £30 charge to cover the costs of us sending out our move in company after hours. We can monitor flights on the BAA website so you don’t need to worry if your flight is delayed if you have told us your flight number. You will be given full contact details including a mobile number for the member of staff who will be meeting you at the apartment. We will also request a mobile number from you that you will have with you when you travel so we can keep in touch.
Payments
You will initially pay 25% deposit when you book to reserve the apartment. We will then request the balance around 6 weeks before arrival which can be paid by credit card or Paypal. For bookings made less than 6 weeks in advance the full amount will be due and in really late bookings from a couple of days before arrival we can either take credit card payments or cash on arrival. In all cases a £300 security deposit will be held to cover any damages or loss of keys etc which is usually by credit card or cheque. This will be returned in full if the apartment is returned to us in a tidy state with all keys (in 5 years of welcoming guests at this apartment we have yet to make a security deduction).
Stag nights/hen nights
Please note we do not accept hen or stag parties at this property.
Smoking
Please also note this is a no smoking apartment and a deduction will be made from the deposit if we need to have curtains or furnishings dry cleaned to eliminate tobacco odours.
Pets
For the comfort of all guests we do not accept pets at this property.
