About the location

If you are coming to Edinburgh and want to be right in the centre where it all happens then this could be the place for you. Situated in part of the world heritage area of the Georgian New Town and just off Charlotte Square where the annual book festival is held as well as being home to many financial institutions, this property is literally a few metres from Princes Street which is our main shopping street. You will also find the official residence of the first minister in Charlotte Square along with the Georgian house which is a National Trust property property that shows you how the houses of the new town would have looked when originally built. George Street with a whole host of bars and restaurants as well as designer shopping are all on your doorstep. The birthplace of Alexander Graham Bell (inventor of the telephone) is directly across the street and just 30 metres away is the entrance to Princes Street gardens where you will get great views of Edinburgh Castle and the old town. There are often events on around the gardens and there is the Ross bandstand as well as a good playpark for kids. If you have younger children with you they may like to feed the squirrels who are very tame and you can also wave at the trains going in and out of Waverley from the bridge which spans the tracks - drivers are often happy to hoot when they see you waving. If you need to trvel around Edinburgh then it is easy from this apartment with buses on Princes Street to most locations. In reality you probably wont need to even do that as this apartment is so central. Only the Royal Yacht Brittania is outwith walking distance for the major attractions.

About the apartment

You will arrive in Edinburgh and locate our apartment from the detailed arrival instructions we have sent to you. This apartment is on the second floor and shares the stair with only one other apartment (another one of our holiday apartments). As you enter the apartment you will find the hallway opening giving access to all rooms - the lounge, 2 bedrooms, a bathroom and a kitchen. In the lounge you will find a welcome basket with a selection of Scottish biscuits and a bottle of sparkling mineral water. There is also tea, coffee and sugar as well as a pint of milk in the fridge for you so you once our member of staff has showed you around the apartment you can just put your feet up and relax before deciding what to do during your stay.

The lounge is very spacious and has a couple of sofas (one is a bed settee), a dining table which easily seats 6, a flat screen tv, living flame gas fire and there is also complimentary wi fi. Both the bedrooms can be made up as doubles or twins and the rear bedroom is particularly spacious. The kitchen is fully equipped with dishwasher, oven, hob, washer dryer, fridge, freeze, microwave, kettle, toaster and all the crockery and utensils you will need for your stay. The bathroom is finished in travertine stone and has bath, over bath shower, w.c. and wash hand basin.

Check in

As a rough guide check in is 4pm but if you are arriving between 11am and 4pm we can take your bags in the apartment, give you a set of keys and let you explore Edinburgh whilst the apartment is cleaned. That will save you having to haul bags around until you can check in. If you are arriving after 9pm there is a £30 charge to cover the costs of us sending out our move in company after hours. We can monitor flights on the BAA website so you don’t need to worry if your flight is delayed if you have told us your flight number. You will be given full contact details including a mobile number for the member of staff who will be meeting you at the apartment. We will also request a mobile number from you that you will have with you when you travel so we can keep in touch.

Payments

You will initially pay 25% deposit when you book to reserve the apartment. We will then request the balance around 6 weeks before arrival which can be paid by credit card or Paypal. For bookings made less than 6 weeks in advance the full amount will be due and in really late bookings from a couple of days before arrival we can either take credit card payments or cash on arrival. In all cases a £300 security deposit will be held to cover any damages or loss of keys etc which is usually by credit card or cheque. This will be returned in full if the apartment is returned to us in a tidy state with all keys (in 5 years of welcoming guests at this apartment we have yet to make a security deduction).

Stag nights/hen nights

Please note we do not accept hen or stag parties at this property.

Smoking

Please also note this is a no smoking apartment and a deduction will be made from the deposit if we need to have curtains or furnishings dry cleaned to eliminate tobacco odours.

Pets

For the comfort of all guests we do not accept pets at this property.
